This programme is designed to meet a growing industry demand for increased knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, involved in both chemical synthesis and bio-processing applications.
This programme is specifically designed for learners seeking a qualification that will enable them to either progress within their current employment or take up employment in a manufacturing operations industry.
The course equips participants with a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge essential for entry level positions in BioPharma manufacturing operations, involved in both chemical synthesis and bio- processing applications.
- Accreditation: QQI Level 5 Certificate in Essentials of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (60 ECTS)

This course is co-created with BioPharmaChem Skillnet, a government funded organisation, providing subsidised learning & development solutions for the biopharmaceutical and chemical sector throughout the Republic of Ireland. Skillnet work with industry to understand their talent development challenges and provide enterprise-led, bespoke training solutions. Their collaborative ecosystem of industry, educational institutions and training providers work together to address industry challenges and foster innovation in the biopharma sector.

This part-time programme runs over 9 months. Lectures are delivered online mid-week with a number of Saturday face to face throughout the programme.
This course will cover the following modules:
Module 1: Cleanroom Operations and Plant Utilities / Facilities
Module 2: Continuous Improvement and Sustainability in Manufacturing
Module 3: Quality and Good Manufacturing / Good Documentation Practices and Health & Safety
Module 4: Personal Effectiveness and Transversal Skills
Module 5: Data and Digital Processing Skills
Module 6 – Choice of either:
a) Principles and Practice of Chemical Processing (elective)
b) Principles and Practice of Bioprocessing (elective)
Proiciency in English Language Required (B2+ level or equivalent on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Graduates of this programme will be considered for progression onto Innopharma higher education programmes at Level 6.
